For those who know very little of Char's back story, she is a cyclops, her family descending from the original cyclops they are all carriers, but she is the only one of her kind who has awakened in almost 20 years. Worse yet she is a female, which means she is the prefect candidate to house the key to the great forge. This key is not a normal key in the sense that you would think, and the great forge is not the sort of forge you would expect either. Her destiny is to bare the next incarnation of the god Hephaestus who has to be reborn every few millennium.

Her body is literally the forge. Her virginity is literally the key, and we are talking virginity in the sense that she has never had a man inside her.

When she was twelve she had her first period and became a woman, and she had a dream where Hephaestus came to her, and told her she would bear his child one day.

Ultimately, she looks up to this god. He is her god; she is faithful to him. He helps her in her work, and he blesses her family with prosperity in their forges and their business, but this has always hung over her. She does not necessarily want to be the great forge. She does not want to have a child, let alone a child by a god whom she reveres, but does not love.

She is a giver in every sense of the word. Although she is quiet and stoic looking, she gives everything she has, and would even give someone the shirt off her back. It is what she believes in. She wants others to accept her; to see her as not a monster, and to see her as more than someone who gives things to others with out expecting anything back. She would do most anything for her father, her god, her brothers, and her lover to see her in a favorable light, and to be proud of her.

Despite this all, despite her luck, blessings, strength, and ability, she is fallible. She is not completely human, but the sentiment is there. She can go until she breaks down and she often does. She loves her god, but he is fickle, and is rarely there when she needs it. She loves her teammates, but is so very afraid of them getting hurt, and as their leader she is afraid of letting them down.

Somehow she finds a way to push on. She has thought about killing herself, she has thought about hurting herself, about forsaking her god and the powers she has, about leaving everything she knows, about abandoning her every responsibility, but she knows that she has to do this. No one else can, or will. She knows that if it isn’t her, it will fall to someone else that won't be able to protect the world like she can. She often thinks she is selfish for wanting to keep her friends and family happy and safe, her own well being often be damned.

Her breaking point is very hard to find. She takes on so much. This image is after a particularly bad battle that ended up with her nearly loosing her lover and friends. She is a hearty person, but everyone has a breaking point. Here she is begging her god for help in one of his temples that only she knows how to enter. The ever burning flame is a representation of Hephaestus, but the darkness around her lends to the feeling of emptiness, and the fact she views herself as alone.

I believe that this song is the best for her because it is explaining that she is strong and determined to be the best for others, but that she is also only one person with the weight of the worlds on her shoulders. She loves hard, and wants others to be proud of her, but she cannot handle the expectations of others. She has yet to realize that she has a team, that she is not alone. She has others around her that will help her be strong, and help catch her when she falls.

As an artist I am super proud of how that stained glass looks! That is one of my favorite things in this piece, and the lighting. I think I did pretty well but there is always room for improvement.
